When the school first opened in June 1930 there were only 42 children who were cared for by 8 nuns. Maryhaven now serves 1500 individuals across two counties on Long Island. The school serves over children alone! We have 21 Individual Residential Alternatives, 9 Intermediate Care Facilities, 18 apartments and 8 Day Habilitation Programs. Our Mental Health Program consists of 3 Community Residences, 12 Apartments, and 3 Day Habilitation Programs. Maryhaven also has an Alcohol and Substance Abuse Program that consists of a Crisis Center, a Teen Program, and Halfway Houses.
